ERP for Food & FMCG

ERP for Food Manufacturers and FMCG Brands

Production batches carry their true cost, packed goods carry their expiry date, and every dealer’s account and discount sits on the same ledger as the stock.

ERP that fits how food businesses actually run

Food businesses fight on two fronts at once. On the factory side, raw material prices change every month, so last quarter’s cost sheet is already wrong. On the market side, the product has a shelf life, dealers expect schemes and discounts, and the money comes in slowly from a long list of shops and distributors. A spreadsheet can hold one of these problems. It cannot hold both and still agree with the bank.

NavoBook runs production with bills of materials and batches, so each batch is costed from what the ingredients and packing actually cost at the time. With expiry tracking on, finished goods carry their expiry date and the oldest is issued first. Sales to dealers and distributors carry their discounts and post to aged receivables, and the whole thing is one set of books.

The problem

What eats margin in food and FMCG

Cost sheets out of date

Sugar, oil and packing prices move every month, but the product cost used for pricing was set a year ago.

Stale stock in the market

Older packs sit in the godown while fresh ones go out, then come back as expired returns.

Schemes nobody reconciles

Dealer discounts and trade schemes are given on paper and never matched against the sales they were meant to drive.

Dealer balances chased by memory

Dozens of dealers, each with an open balance, and no ageing to show who has stopped paying.

Wastage never booked

Spoiled batches and production loss are thrown away without reaching the stock ledger.

How NavoBook solves it

How NavoBook runs a food business

Batch production costing

Bills of materials and production batches take the real cost of ingredients and packing at the time of the batch.

Expiry-aware stock

Finished goods carry their expiry date by batch, the earliest-expiring stock is issued first, and a report lists what is close.

Dealer and distributor sales

Sales orders, delivery notes and invoices for each dealer, with discounts posted to their own account.

Aged receivables

Every dealer’s balance by age, so collections focus on the accounts that are slipping.

Multi-location stock

Factory store, finished goods godown and branch stock on one live figure, with tracked transfers.

Connected tax and books

Sales tax on every invoice and FBR Digital Invoicing, posting to the same ledger as production and stock.

How the work moves through NavoBook

In the order it happens, from the first record to the last.

  1. 1

    Buy

Ingredients and packing are received at their real price.

  2. 2

    Produce

A batch consumes them through the BOM and is costed on the day.

  3. 3

    Pack and store

Finished goods enter stock by batch, with their expiry date.

  4. 4

    Sell and collect

Dealers are invoiced from the oldest batch, and their balances age on one report.

Modules food businesses use most

All 23 modules are included on either plan, so you can switch any of these on as you grow, with no extra fee.

Food & FMCG: frequently asked questions

Can NavoBook cost each production batch?

Yes. Production uses bills of materials and batches, so each batch is costed from the ingredients and packing it actually consumed at their cost on the day, not from a standard cost set months ago.

Does it handle expiry dates on finished goods?

Yes. With expiry tracking switched on, stock is held by batch with its expiry date, the earliest-expiring batch is issued first, and an expiry report shows what has expired or will within the days you choose.

Can we give dealers discounts and track what they owe?

Yes. Discounts are posted to their own accounts rather than hidden in the price, and every dealer’s balance appears on aged receivables, so you can see both the cost of the discounts and who is behind on payment.

We also distribute other brands. Does that fit?

Yes. Traded goods and your own production sit in the same inventory. The distribution page covers the trading side in more detail.
